FORTIBUS  -   'with the strength'  -  is being developed by a group based in Glebe, NSW, with members throughout Australia and interested contributors worldwide.

Chairman and driving force of the group at present is its initiator / founder, Hugh O'Connor; other group members are at present occupying de-facto organizational positions - such as Secretary, Treasury, Operations etc - until such time as FORTIBUS has attracted enough paying membership and sponsorship funding to enable us to formalise these positions and recruit suitable and effective incumbents. Officeholders will as far as possible be recruited from FORTIBUS membership - likewise all service providers to FORTIBUS.

FORTIBUS is not affiliated or associated in any way with any of the organs of state or with the mainstream Union movement, which is regarded by us as having proved itself corrupt and effete as far as the interests of the  Australian worker is concerned. We are now - and we intend to remain - true to our membership and not become a mere source of funds and of electoral jobbery by the ACTU and the ALP.

While the problem of age prejudice by employers is universal throughout Australia, we especially recognise it's particular bite in rural and regional areas, which are of themselves victims of other Government mismanagement, by both politiical sides - both misfeasance and malfeasance.

We intend to make government bring into law EFFECTIVE protection for Australian workers against age-in-employment prejudicial practices, as is the case in the USA and EU.

FORTIBUS promises to provide a unified, considered and forceful voice for Australians aged over 40 who have been displaced from their careers or other employments, and who are being disadvantaged in trying to earn their livings by the prejudice, stupidity, pettyiness of employing bodies or their staffs, or for any other reason.
